On the 22nd of February 2021 the Laurium Equity Prescient Fund transferred to Nedgroup Investments with the fund merging into the Nedgroup Investments SA Equity Fund. The Nedgroup Investments SA Equity Fund is a newly established fund that focuses exclusively on South African-listed equities with a broad mandate to invest across the FTSE JSE equity index. The fund is managed by Laurium’s experienced portfolio management team of Murray Winckler, Gavin Vorwerg, Junaid Bray and Dwayne Dippenaar. The Laurium team will continue implementing the Laurium equity strategy, which has delivered impressive performance in South African equity markets for investors over the past seven years. The Laurium track record since 27 March 2014 has been adopted by the Nedgroup Investments SA Equity Fund.
Investment Approach
The fund is actively managed and invests in only South African listed equities, predominantly but not limited to the top 100 stocks. The mandate will not be restricted to any specific investment style and the investment strategy will be underpinned by extensive bottom-up fundamental research and valuations. The focus will be predominantly on individual stock selection to create a concentrated portfolio of 30 to 40 stocks; however, macro-economic considerations will also play an integral part in constructing the portfolio.
